Comment: Feijóo's imminent failure
Tomorrow at 12 p.m., the conservative leader, Feijóo (PP) tries to become Prime Minister of Spain at a two-day confidence debate in parliament. The debate will carry over into Wednesday. Nobody is reporting he has any chance of winning the vote, unless some secret skulduggery is afoot and four MPs from some other party that is not the PP, Vox, UPN or the Canary Islands Coalition surprise the country and vote for him.
He tried to frame his imminent failure this week as a defense of Spain at the rally in Madrid yesterday: “Even if it costs me the role of Prime Minister, I will defend Spain as a group of citizens who are free and equal”, adding that what people did not vote for in July was “a change of the constitutional regime”, in reference to the amnesty deal between Sánchez and Puigdemont.
