Comment: have Catalan separatists just overplayed their hand?
The Spanish Constitution still says a referendum on secession is unconstitutional.
News broke last night that the two main separatist parties, Esquerra and Junts, were to join forces to demand any support for a new national Prime Minister—Sánchez, in this specific case—would be tied to that person openly supporting working towards a new referendum on secession. That went to a vote in the regional parliament on Friday monring and passed 65-54, with the (also separatist) CUP abstaining.
