Sánchez continues to impress with how he's managed to keep this stitched together coalition humming. Díaz is having a moment, but my hunch is that by election time the center-left majority of voters will appreciate what Sánchez has accomplished, with such difficult conditions, and return to PSOE.

Could be, still a long way to go until election days for all of them. Before I saw the last couple of set pieces from Díaz (Congress motion of no confidence + Sumar presentation), Sánchez looked like the strongest candidate left on the left, no competition, but after seeing those two performances, I would be worried if I were Sánchez. She can grab lots of votes from PSOE voters like that too. Progressive, woman, serious, sensible, also a strong caring vibe in her rhetoric, etc, etc.

Totally, she has a different sort of appeal. Might depend on voter mood in the moment.

Excited to have discovered your Substack! Thanks for putting in the work on what can be a niche topic for English speakers.
